Learning from Steve Harvey
A lot of people attacked Steve Harvey for his mistake. How should we respond?
As I was watching the news one story has been showing up quite a bit.
“Steve Harvey Announces the WRONG Miss Universe!”
What I find interesting are all of the “reasons” for why this mistake happened. Here are just a few that I’ve seen:
“It was my mistake.”
Wow! We live in a world today where it is no one’s fault. Regardless of why something happens the tendency is to blame someone else. This whole situation reminds me of Adam!
The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.”
Genesis 3:12
Here’s my “take away” from this incident.
“Have ye not read”
Matthew 12:3, 12:5, 19:4, 22:31, Mark 12:10, 12:26, Luke 6:3
For those who want to point fingers at Mr. Harvey or make up derogatory claims about him, (ie. illiterate) get rid of the log in your own eye before pointing fingers.
To those of us claiming Christ as our Savior, how many times have we blown it when we make mistakes and want to blame somebody or something else.
Also, we have the truth, the written Word of God, right in front of us. Many of us have a bunch of copies of it around our home. The question is, How much time are we spending in it, and not “around” it?
Don’t listen to others, without taking what they are saying and checking it against the truth, the Word of God.
Mr. Harvey had the truth, right there in front of him the whole time. But, so do we! Are we using it correctly?
Here are my three take aways from this situation:
Pray for Mr. Harvey, he needs the Lord in a time when all kind of mean things are being said about him.
Pray for those who are making the comments, they obviously need the Lord.
Pray for Body of Christ! May we show the love of God to an increasingly mean spirited world and take advantage of these opportunities to not be the way the world likes to depict us as, hypocrites. Especially this time of the year. Remember that our Savior humbled Himself to come to earth as a child to eventually hang on a cross for our sins.
So, the next time the name calling, mocking and false accusations come your way, remember what He did for you and I. Then remember that He also hung on a cross for those who are doing those acts.
May the Lord richly bless you this Christmas and in 2016. Merry Christmas from all of us at Reasons for Hope. Stay Bold!

What I find interesting are all of the “reasons” for why this mistake happened. Here are just a few that I’ve seen:
- The teleprompter got it wrong.
- Someone told him the wrong winner in his earpiece.
- His earpiece didn’t work and he’s illiterate so he couldn’t read the winner. (Which is not true!)
- He read the name incorrectly.
- He was inebriated because he was drinking before the event.
- He skipped the last rehearsal because he was gambling.

- We’re all human, and we’re going to make mistakes. Romans 3:23
- When you make a mistake, accept responsibility. Matthew 7:3-5
- Pay attention to what has been written! Scripture below!
