The Kentuckians

Here are some photo’s that I’ve been able to find over the years.  Hope you enjoy them.
Classic photo of The Kentuckians!  This was in their “prime”.
The Kentuckians with Haystacks Calhoun vs. the Assassins.  That’s my father giving the ‘bear hug’ to one of the Assassins.  Six Man Tag Teams were big for a while.

The Kentuckians with Haystacks Calhoun vs. the Assassins 3.
The masked wrestlers are The Assasins or Bolo’s, depended on where they were wrestling.  I’m not sure who the third man in the ring was.

The “cowhorn” was a huge gimmick.  When one of them was in trouble the other would blow on it and the audience would explode into applause, cheering, yelling etc.  That gave the person in trouble the energy to fight back and tag the other person in.  Pretty amazing how something as simple as a “cowhorn” can manipulate people!  If you’d like, you can read an article from All Star Wrestling, November 1963 about the use of the horn.
Another classic picture of The Kentuckians.
I got these pictures from The Destroyer!  He was in Japan and got them for me after he heard that my father had died.  What a kind man!  These were used to promote The Kentuckians tour there in the 60’s.

Then Kentuckians in Omaha, NE after winning some championship.  Dad and Grizzly were briefly united while we lived in Omaha.  If I remember correctly that trophy was destroyed by Dale Lewis as he beat someone with it.  Vague memory so I won’t go on the record that is the total truth.  It’s just what I remember.  I was only 6 at the time!
Still in Omaha, NE.
One last Omaha shot.
I can’t remember the name of the other gentleman!
They were legitimately big men.  Dad was 6’8″ and Grizzly about 6’10”.  That’s without the cowboy boots on!
This is “The New Kentuckians”.  Long story, it’s all in my book though, “Reasons for HOPE In the MOSAIC of Your Life!”  Or you can watch a short video testimony of why this picture is so important to me personally!
